Stay (acoustic) Ver 1 by Cueshe Cueshe - Stay (acoustic) ver 1 guitar tab Song Name - Stay (ACOUSTIC) Artist Name - Cueshe Album Name - Half Empty, Half Full Tabber Name - Mark Ryan Tripole E-Mail - [email protected] [email protected] This is a perfect alternative to the other version of Stay, which obviously has distorted parts in it. I also prefer the acoustic version of Stay mainly because the solo can be made out quite easily, when compared to its normal version, where the solo is masked probably by the effects or otherwise the volume of his guitar. The acoustic version is pretty much the same thing, except that the guitars are acoustic and the bass is also probably acoustic as well. The solo is perfect and it matches the rhythm of the other guitar. Moreover, it seems more "cleaner" in a way that shows how the band really is. The vocalists sound excellent, and their album is awesome. Get original copies only. Support the local music scene, and say "NO!" to piracy. C'mon man, they're makin good music for us. SAY NO TO PIRACY!. As always, I am not sure whether my tab is 100% correct (especially the solo part), but I will try as much as possible to tab every single detail in the tab. Dedicated to those who kept me alive, who gave me face, and gave me peace. Dedicated specifically to that "unsmiling girl" who seems to like this band. Please smile.. Dedicated to every boy, girl, boy/girl and adult of SPC Ormoc. I love this school!!! (tho- ugh I was never a student of the school, I dunno why I love this school. LOL! LOL!) This is naturally ear transcribed by me and I know it'll sound ok. But I am not 100% sure of everything, so please MAIL ME with your comments, death threats and hate mail. I'm sorry the tabs quite a mess. I'll do better next time. Thanks. DISCLAIMER - If you plan to post this up by copying it into your hard drive and posting it up on other public sources, mail me. I'll give it as long as I recieve the full credit. This document must not be changed in any way. Full credit to Mark Ryan only because this document is my work, and is owned by me. It is intended for you to learn. NOTE : This song, naturally, (as you may have already seen countless times in the video), uses two guitars. For this version of Stay, please use acoustics for both guitars. The only electrical instrument here will probably be the bass, but if by chance, you have an acoustic bass, please feel free to use it. It'll sound amazing. Drums are normal. Play Guitar 1 and Guitar 2 over each other. Guitar 1 will be the tabs for whoever is you're lead guitarist, while guitar 2 is rhythm. LEGEND Here's the legend for various symbols I will be using in the tab: / - Slide Note (/ = slide up, = slide down) X - Dead String `` - Let Note(s) Ring h - Hammer On p - Pull Off It would really help if you are able to sweep pick, or what we can call "Economy Picking", (this is where Sweeping and Alternate picking coincide). Another advanced technique that will really help is the ability to have patience. If you rush things, you won't learn any- thing at all. Sit down with this song for at least a few days in order to master the sequence, and the solo as well. There will be little notes here and there that will be denoted by * or *1, etc. Refer to the end of that section for the note. Tuning - Standard (EADGBe) INTRO Well, here's the Intro part. The intro's kinda easy, and I'll be giving notes anyway for each guitar so there's no need to worry about anything. I am, however, telling you now that you must listen to the song respectively for the progressions. Keep this in mind as you go through the tab. INTRO PART 1 (0:00 - 0:12) Guitar 1 e|-------------------------------| NOTES TO GUITAR 1 B|-------------------------------| This is basically how it is. It seems that G|-----------------4h6-6-6-6-6---| there is only one guitar in the intro, but D|---4h6-6-6-6-6-----------------| there are two, but then Guitar 2 is sort of A|-------------------------------| quieter. E|-------------------------------| Guitar 2 e|---0-------------0-------------| NOTES TO GUITAR 2 B|---0-------------2-------------| I recommend you put more emphasis on the first G|---1-------------2-------------| two strings for the intro. In the song, we see D|---2-------------2-------------| that the B and e strings stand out. Listen A|---2-------------0-------------| to the song for the progression. E|---0-------------0-------------| Guitar 1 e|----------------------------------| NOTES TO GUITAR 1 B|----------------------------------| Listen to the song for the progression. G|----------------------------------| D|---4h6-6-6-6-6--4-4-4h6-6-6-6-6---| A|----------------------------------| E|----------------------------------| Guitar 2 e|---0----------------0-------------| NOTES TO GUITAR 2 B|---0----------------0-------------| Listen to the song for the progression. G|---1----------------1-------------| D|---2----------------2-------------| A|---2----------------2-------------| E|---0----------------0-------------| At this point, the drums kick in, and the main thing starts. This will be placed in the tab as "Intro Part 2". This part will show both guitars in full force, so make it count. INTRO PART 2 (0:13 - 0:22) Guitar 1 e|-------------------------------| NOTES TO GUITAR 1 B|-------------------------------| The strumming pattern of Guitar 2, and the picking G|-------------------------------| pattern of Guitar 1 should be almost alike. Just D|---4/6-6-4-6-4-6-4-6-4-6-6-4---| listen to the song for the progression. A|-------------------------------| E|-------------------------------| Guitar 2 e|---0---------------------------| NOTES TO GUITAR 2 B|---0---------------------------| Just keep on playing this E chord. Listen to the G|---1---------------------------| song for the progression of the strumming. Start D|---2---------------------------| off by strumming the E up and then proceed to the A|---2---------------------------| progression E|---0---------------------------| Guitar 1 e|-----------------------------| B|-----------------------------| G|-----------------------------| D|---6/7-7-6-7-6-7-6-7-6-7-9---| A|-----------------------------| E|-----------------------------| Guitar 2 e|---0-------------------------| NOTES TO GUITAR 2 B|---0-------------------------| Just listen to the song for the progression. I am G|---2-------------------------| almost sure that he plays this chord. D|---2-------------------------| A|---0-------------------------| E|---0-------------------------| Guitar 1 __ e|---------------------------------| B|---------------------------------| | G|---------------------------------| | D|---4/6-6-4-6-4-6-4-6-4-6-6-2``---| | A|---------------------------------| | __________________________________________ E|---------------------------------| | |COMMON NOTES | |_|Stop everything. After the last note/chord| Guitar 2 | |only the keyboards (if you have), and the | e|---0------------------------0``--| | |drums play. Wait for your turn (LOL)______| B|---0------------------------0``--| | G|---1------------------------1``--| | D|---2------------------------2``--| | A|---2------------------------2``--| | E|---0------------------------0``--| __/ VERSE 1 (0:25 - 0:49) Here's the verse part. Instead of tabbing every single thing they play, I'll just tab out the chords you need for the verse, and I'll throw in the lyrics and show you where to play the chords. The tab is shown below: E A2 e|---0-----0---| B|---0-----0---| G|---1-----2---| D|---2-----2---| A|---2-----0---| E|---0-----0---| NOTE: Start off by strumming an E chord up, then continue to the main progression. This gives a smooth effect, but its optional. Guitar 1 can take a break. E I believe, A2 E we shouldn't let the moment pass us by E Life's too short, A2 We shoudn't wait for the water E to run dry. NOTES TO GUITAR 2 Lower the volume of the guitar during the verse so that you can make way for whoever is your vocalist. Cueshe must have done this so that the chords would be hard to hear, and so that we wouldn't figure it out. (LOL!) Just lower the volume. REFRAIN 1 (0:49 - 1:01) Here, everything goes higher, and both guitars come back in this part. So Guitar 1 should be on the ready. I'll just shove in the chords you have to play, and just look at the lyrics and the almost exact places to play the chords. The guy here has a cool voice. The tab is shown below: B C#m D E e|---2---------4---------5---------7---| B|---4---------5---------7---------9---| G|---4---------6---------7---------9---| D|---4---------6---------7---------9---| A|---2---------4---------5---------7---| E|---X---------X---------X---------X---| B Think about it, C#m Coz' we only have one shot at destiny. D All I'm asking, E Could it possibly be you and me NOTE : Guitar 1 plays somthing here as well. This is to add some harmonization, that sounds cool and blends in well with the rhythm guitar. Below is the tab: (play the notes and switch as Guitar 2 switches chords) e|----7-----9-----10-----12----| NOTES TO GUITAR 1 B|----7-----9-----10-----12----| Sort of strum these notes alternately. It'll G|-----------------------------| sound cool. This sounded cool to my friends D|-----------------------------| so I decided to include it. PLEASE MAIL ME A|-----------------------------| FOR ANY SUGGESTIONS, PLEASE??!! E|-----------------------------| CHORUS 1 (1:02 - 1:25) Here's the chorus part. The chorus is pretty easy anyway. The first part of the cho- rus (from 1:02 - 1:08) is only piano, so therefore to start the chorus, just play an A chord and immedieately stop for the keyboards. Somewhere after, come the guitars. Strum louderin this part. I'll just sow you the tab for the chords you have to play. Here's the tab: A C#m D Bm e|---0---------4---------5---------2---| B|---2---------5---------7---------3---| G|---2---------6---------7---------4---| D|---2---------6---------7---------4---| A|---0---------4---------5---------2---| E|---X---------X---------X---------X---| NOTE : Guitar 1 and Guitar 2 should play in unison for the chorus. A`` So if you'd still go, D* I'll understand, Bm Would you give me something, A just to hold on to. C#m And if you'll stay, D*2 I'll hold your hand, Bm Coz I'm truly, madly, crazy, in love with.... * NOTE : This D over here seems to have an augmented bit. I'll tab it our for you so just see whether it will be correct or not. That's why I always say MAIL ME WITH YOUR COMMENTS, so that I can be better in the future. Heres the tab for the D: Guitar 1 e|---5---7---5---7---| NOTES TO GUITAR 1 B|---7---5---7---5---| He sort of strums through this. So therefore comes the ever G|---7---7---7---7---| so repetitive phrase "Listen to the song for the progression" D|---7---7---7---7---| This part is easy anyway so don't worry. A|---5---5---5---5---| E|---X---X---X---X---| *2 NOTE : As you start to play the D here, sort of slide from the C#m to the D. Listen to the song and you'll notice that its there. Not necessarily from the C#m chord to the D, but rather slide the 4th fret on the A string to the 5th fret and then continue the D chord. Please MAIL ME FOR SUGGESTIONS. INTERLUDE PART (1:26 - 1:35) Here, the exact same thing in the Intro is played, except that some of the notes are in a different sequence. I don't want to write a whole new progression tab, so I'll just ake the one from the INTRO PART 1, and just experiment with it. Here's the tab: Guitar 1 e|-------------------------------| NOTES TO GUITAR 1 B|-------------------------------| The strumming pattern of Guitar 2, and the picking G|-------------------------------| pattern of Guitar 1 should be almost alike. D|---2---------------------------| A|---2---------------------------| E|---0---------------------------| Guitar 1 e|-----------------------------| B|-----------------------------| G|-----------------------------| D|---6/7-7-6-7-6-7-6-7-6-7-9---| A|-----------------------------| E|-----------------------------| Guitar 2 e|---0-------------------------| NOTES TO GUITAR 2 B|---0-------------------------| Just listen to the song for the progression. It's like the intro___________| B|---0------------------------0``--| | G|---1------------------------1``--| | D|---2------------------------2``--| | A|---2------------------------2``--| | E|---0------------------------0``--| __/ VERSE 2 (1:38 - 2:02) Welcome to the second verse of the song. You know the drill. It's the same chords anyway, so I'll just put in the lyrics and tell you when to play the chords. Here are the chords again (so you don't have to scroll all the time): E A2 e|---0-----0---| B|---0-----0---| G|---1-----2---| D|---2-----2---| A|---2-----0---| E|---0-----0---| NOTE: Start off by strumming an E chord up, then continue to the main progression. This gives a smooth effect, but its optional. Guitar 1 can take a break. It's just like the first verse, and you're close to the end anyway. E The time has come, A2 E for us to go, our separate ways E God forbid, A2 E but my mind is going crazy today... NOTES TO GUITAR 2 Lower the volume yet again for the second verse, so that the clarity of the vocalist is more and so that it will sound cool. Adjust the volume accordingly (either on your guitar (if you have volume control) or on the amplifier itself (if you are using one) or strum lightly. REFRAIN 2 (2:02 - 2:15) Same as refrain 1 except the lyrics. Both guitars kick in again. Here are the chords: B C#m D E e|---2---------0---------5---------7---| B|---4---------5---------7---------9---| G|---4---------6---------7---------9---| D|---4---------6---------7---------9---| A|---2---------4---------5---------7---| E|---X---------X---------X---------X---| B I feel so cold, C#m Feel so numb, D I'm having nightmares but I'm awake. Help me Lord, E Fight this loneliness, Take this pain away. NOTE : Guitar 1 still plays the same thing as in Refrain 1. Here's the tab: e|----7-----9-----10-----12----| NOTES TO GUITAR 1 B|----7-----9-----10-----12----| Sort of strum these notes alternately. It'll G|-----------------------------| sound cool. This sounded cool to my friends D|-----------------------------| so I decided to include it. Switch as Guitar A|-----------------------------| 2 switches chords. E|-----------------------------| CHORUS 2 (2:15 - 2:38) Here's the chorus part. The chorus is pretty easy anyway. The first part of the cho- rus (from 2:15 - 2:20) is only piano, so therefore to start the chorus, just play an A chord and immedieately stop for the keyboards. C#m And if you'll stay, D* I'll hold your hand, Bm Coz I'm truly, madly, crazy, in love with.... * NOTE : As you start to play the D's here, sort of slide from the C#m to the D. Lis- ten to the song and you'll notice that its there. Not necessarily from the C#m chord to the D, but rather slide the 4th fret on the A string to the 5th fret and then continue the D chord. Please MAIL ME FOR SUGGESTIONS. SOLO PART (2:38 - 3:01) The guy's solo in the acoustic version in Stay is excellent as it magically blends in with the guitar and the ambience in the background. This is sort of my version, and so I am not 100% sure that my version is correct. Basically, I found out the solo by liste- ning to the solo again and again. PLEASE MAIL ME WITH SUGGESTIONS, PLEASE??!! Basically, I will be continuing on from where I left in the chorus. These will be the chords played by Guitar 2 during the solo: C D E e|---0---------2---------0---| B|---1---------3---------0---| G|---0---------2---------1---| D|---2---------0---------2---| A|---3---------0---------2---| E|---0---------X---------0---| I also sense that there's nothing wrong in using the other variations of these chords. Feel free to use the other variations if you feel that it sounds better. Up next, is what Guitar 1 is supposed to play. I am telling you now that the solo tab is not 100% correct, but it does touch the 97-98% mark. Send in your e-mails and your rants. I hope it will sound ok to you: (Furthermore, I'll tell you when to play the chords by placing letters above the bars to show what Guitar 2 must play and when): C D ...you... e|----------------------------10----|---12-10--------------------------------------| B|---------------------8-8/10-------|---------12-12-------------------------------| G|-----------------7/9--------------|-----------------12-1211-11-119-9-9/11-11---| D|--------------10------------------|----------------------------------------------| A|---------7/10---------------------|----------------------------------------------| E|----8/10--------------------------|----------------------------------------------| E e|------------12----10----10h12----12p10----12p10----10----10h12----12p10------------| B|---10/12-12----12----12-------12-------12-------12----12-------12-------12-1210``-| G|-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------| D|-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------| A|-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------| E|-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------| C e|*-----------------12/15-12--------------*| NOTES TO GUITAR 1 B|*-------------13-----------13-----------*| This part is just my improvisation G|*--------9/12-----------------12--------*| so therefore is not the real thing. D|*--10-12-------------------------14-12--*| A|*---------------------------------------*| E|*---------------------------------------*| D E e|---15p14-------12-----------17----15----14-12------| B|---------15-12----15-12-----------------------12``-| G|------------------------14-----14----14------------| D|---------------------------------------------------| A|---------------------------------------------------| E|---------------------------------------------------| NOTE : All the frets within the stars are just my improvisations of the part. I couldn't figure it out mainly becaue I couldn't hear it too well. If you do find out how to play that part correctly, please e-mail me. In the part after the solo (the one with the piano), there is one guitar playing. For this part, I suggest that Guitar 2 strum the E chord along with the piano. Just listen to the song for theprogression. CHORUS 3 (3:01 - 3:59) Here's the last chorus with new lyrics at the end. Its the same as before but then we'll be making a few adjustments to the chords that we had used earlier. So the tabs are below: A C#m D Bm e|---0---------4---------2---------2---| B|---2---------5---------3---------3---| G|---2---------6---------2---------4---| D|---2---------6---------0---------4---| A|---0---------4---------0---------2---| E|---X---------X---------X---------X---| NOTE : Guitar 1 and Guitar 2 should play in unison for the chorus. A`` So if you'd still go, D I'll understand, Bm Would you give me something, A just to hold on to. C#m And if you'll stay, D I'll hold your hand, Bm Coz I'm truly, madly, crazy, A in love with you. *********************************************** C#m Now that you're gone D I'm all alone, Bm Still hoping that, A you would come back home. C#m Don't care how long, D But I'm willing to wait. Bm`` Coz I'm truly, madly, crazy, A*1 in love with you. *********************************************** In the lyrics in between the stars (*), guitar 1 has to play some picking stuff. This is one part where I am totally unsure of the picking or the picking pattern basically because its kinda hard to hear. So once again, mail me if you do know how to play this. Refer to the start or at the end of the document for my ad. Here is my version of how to play it: Guitar 1 e|---9h10p9-----------12-----------9h10p9------9h10p9----------12---------9h10p9--------| B|----------10---10----------10-10--------10----------10---9--------10-10--------10-----| G|-------------9----9------9-----------------9-----------9---9----9-----------------9---| D|--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| A|--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| E|--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| This sequence is played twice in the final chorus. Specifically in the times (3:25 - 3:30) and (3:36 - 3:42). *1 NOTE : Just follow the song for how to pick this A in the final stage of the song. CONGRATULATIONS!! You have completed yet another song. So if you plan to praise me for making a kickass tab, or try to bomb my house for a crap tab, then please e-mail me at the following addresses: ADDRESS 1: [email protected] ADDRESS 2: [email protected] I dedicate this tab (my blood, my tears, the agony, the pain) to everyone I know, have known and will know. This band's cool and is only one of the handful of bands I respect pertaining to the genre. With stunning vocals and rhythm, Cueshe's got a lot more to come, and hopefully I'll be there to tab it all. ROCK ON, DOODS! For the love of all that is holy, please e-mail me. Add me in Friendster or Zorpia at [email protected]. Keep the local scene alive, and say NO! to piracy. This tab is especially dedicated to that "unsmil- ing girl" who I like very much. Please try to smile, ok? Comments? Please mail me. Thanks.
